Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, known professionally as Megan Thee Stallion, is one of the most influential and talented rappers of our time. The song spent four consecutive weeks at the top of the chart and was certified 5× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling over 5 million units in the country. It also spent ten weeks at the top of the Billboard Streaming Songs chart, breaking the record for the most weeks at number one by a female artist. "WAP" was also a commercial success internationally, topping the charts in several countries, including Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. It was certified Platinum or higher in several countries, including Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
